Dawl Camp empowers San Joaquin County youth ages 5-16 facing adversity—including those in foster care, low-income households, and other challenging circumstances by providing access to free educational workshops, creative expression, mentorship, and essential resources that support their well-being.
Dawl Camp began with a powerful vision to give every child facing adversity a place where they feel seen, supported, and inspired. Founded in 2017 by Ronesha Lang a local fashion designer, mother, and former foster youth. Dawl Camp was created to reflect what she once needed as a child navigating trauma, bullying, and self-doubt.
What started as a summer camp for girls has grown into a year-round empowerment movement serving boys and girls ages 5–16 across San Joaquin County. Today, Dawl Camp provides creative workshops, mentorship, wellness education, and essential resources that support each child’s growth emotionally, socially, and mentally.
Our programs are built on love, self-expression, and community. From anti-bullying initiatives, health & hygiene workshops to Kids Fashion Week and confidence-building events, every Dawl Camp experience is designed to help youth own their worth, believe in their voice, and boldly shape their future.
We’ve supported over 750 youth and counting, with many returning year after year—not just to participate, but to lead. Because at Dawl Camp, we don’t just create programs. We build a movement where youth empower each other. Every step is taken with purpose and with love.
I didn’t create Dawl Camp because I had all the answers, I created it because I remembered what it felt like to have none. Growing up in the foster care and facing adversity, I learned early how it feels to be overlooked and unheard. I also learned how powerful it is when someone takes the opportunity to believe in you.
For me, fashion was more than creativity it was survival. It's how I coped with expressing myself. As a mother and a designer, I wanted to turn my pain into purpose by creating a safe space where young people can be empowered through whatever they’re going through.
In 2017, I founded Dawl Camp with a vision to build a community where youth from underserved communities could come feel seen, supported, and celebrated. I wanted them to know they matter. Every child no matter where they come from should have access to hope, healing and opportunities.
Every program, every workshop, every care package we deliver comes from that place. From a girl who was once searching for hope, now standing to be that hope for someone else.
